Meet Tess

Photos have always been one of the most important things in my life. Some of my first memories are of me sitting on the maroon carpet of my mother’s bedroom closet leafing through photos. Most of them weren’t of me, but holding the smooth print in my hands felt as if I were transported to another time. The feeling of being a part of a memory not my own was powerful and it brought me such joy.

Through every stage of my life I’ve been passionate about photos and the reason I chose to become a photographer. It wasn’t until I had a hard drive crash in 2008 that I became fanatic about making sure my photos were safe and backed up. That loss of photos was keenly felt as it held images of the beginning of my relationship with my husband, the first years of my niece’s life, my darling kittens, and countless memories with friends.

From that time on I’ve researched and kept up to date on the best practices for preserving both digital and physical photos. My friends and family can attest to my constant reminders to have a backup plan in place and to keep it up to date. With the constant technological changes and improvements it can feel overwhelming to know how to navigate keeping your own memories safe. That is why I knew I needed to start this venture to help others. My most fervent desire is to prevent that kind of loss from happening to others; to safeguard our memories against loss.

Tess' Favorite Things

As a lifelong Seattleite one of my first jobs was making coffee. I didn’t even really like coffee, I was only 16 at the time, but it sparked in me a lifelong love and appreciation. When pressed I’ll say my favorite drink is a perfectly foamed soy latte, but 99% of the time I’m drinking it black and loving it.

I’m a committed cat lady for life and there’s no shame in my game! I love all animals, but cats hold a special place in my heart. There’s nothing more comforting to me than a bundle of purring fur in my lap.

I’m a voracious reader and average 100 books a year, about 30k pages. I don’t count kids books in this tally, but we certainly read hundreds of those a year as well. I favor fiction and love all genres. Give me all of the sci-fi, fantasy, YA, adventure, romance, historical, mysteries! If I have some down time I have my faithful e-reader in my hands or an audiobook in my headphones.

Family

I am lucky enough to be the mama of two amazing boys, Grant and Luke. As an introverted bookworm I never imagined a life so full of noise and raucous energy, but I love it. They make every day brighter and I can’t wait for the day when they both decide to sleep through the night.

I married a boy that I met in middle school; a boy I had a crush on in 8th grade and who unbeknownst to me shared the same feelings. We ran into each other shortly after high school and the rest is history. There’s no one I’d rather share the joys and sorrows of life with.
